Values

The following are the core values of DBC. These values are fundamental and deeply held, and are essential to the character of our church. They influence our thoughts and actions as a ministry, and are enduring since we find justification for them in Scripture.

INTENTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

We value intentionally-built, authentic, Christ-centered relationships. We want DBC to be a place where people can connect, be cared for, and be challenged to grow in all aspects of their life.

John 13:34-35; Acts 2:42; 1 Thessalonians 2:8; Hebrews 10:24-25

BIBLICAL TEACHING

We believe the Bible represents absolute truth. As God's Word, it is authoritative and applicable to all of life, so we are committed to teaching what it says.

Isaiah 40:8; John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:23

ENGAGING THE WORLD

We intend to share Christ by intentionally building relationships—both locally and globally.

Matthew 5:13-16,28:18-20; Acts 1:8; 1 Thessalonians 1:8

AUTHENTIC WORSHIP

We were created to individually and corporately worship God with humility and overflowing thankfulness. We do not seek to be entertained, but to worship God as He requires.

Deuteronomy 6:5-6; 1 Chronicles 29:11; John 4:23-24; Colossians 3:16-17

PRAYER

We desire to be a people of prayer who give God constant praise and seek His power and direction in our lives. Prayer is a foundational ministry of the Church.

Isaiah 56:7; Luke 11:2-4; Ephesians 6:18; Philippians 4:6-7

GIVING

We endeavor to give cheerfully and sacrificially of our finances (and other resources) to the work of God—both at DBC and around the world.

1 Corinthians 16:2; 2 corinthians 9:6,7; Matthew 19:20-22; Luke 16:9

DELIBERATE DISCIPLESHIP

We strive to intentionally make and multiply disciples by establishing and maintaining life-long spiritual disciplines within a community of accountable relationships.

Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 6:40,9:23-24; 2 Timothy 2:2

SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE AND GUIDANCE

We provide spiritual leadership, instruction, accountability and discipline in order to stimulate those in our DBC family to live out their commitment to Christ with consistency and integrity in every area of life.

Matthew 18:16-20; Colossians 1:28-29; Galatians 6:1-5; 1 Thessalonians 5:15

GIFT-ORIENTED MINISTRY

We desire to help all believers discover their spiritual giftedness and encourage them to use their gifts as the Holy Spirit leads them for the building-up of the Church.

Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:7,11; Ephesians 4:11-13; 2 Timothy 1:6-7;
1 Peter 4:10-11

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

We endeavor to intentionally build relationships with individuals, businesses, churches and other groups in our surrounding community for the purpose of doing good and sharing the love of Christ.

Matthew 5:13-16,22,39; Leviticus 19:18; Acts 1:8; Galatians 6:10;
1 Thessalonians 1:8

FAMILY

We, as believers, are all a part of the family of God. We also believe in the biblical concept of the nuclear family—of husband, wife, father, mother and children.

Genesis 1:26-27,2:24-25; Matthew 19:4-6; Psalm 127
