“The Humility of God - the Birth of Jesus” (Following Jesus - He Lived the Way He Was Born)

Just as we have seen the humility of God through the Old Testament, nothing to me makes the humility of God jump off the pages more than the birth of His Son.
1. His linage through four marked women (Matthew 1.3-6)
a. Tamar

2. An unknown priest and his wife (Luke 1.5-25)
3. A young servant girl (Luke 1.26-38)
4. This baby was born to die for the sins of the world
(Matthew 1.21)
5. A manger in Bethlehem (Luke 2.1-7)
a. A long trip by donkey
b. No room in the inn
c. Swaddling clothes
d. Born with the animals
e. God taking on flesh - “God with us” (Matthew 1.23;Philippians 2.7,8).
6. Shepherds (Luke 2.8-20)
7. Blessed by the aged - Simeon and Anna (Luke 2.25-38)
8. Magi - the long journey from home (Matthew 2.1-12)
9. Betrayal and fleeing to Egypt (Matthew 2.13-18)
10. Nazareth was his home - “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” (Matthew 2. 19-23; John 1.46)
Questions for Thought:
1. Do we take humility and servanthood seriously?
2. Meeting needs is the foundation for building bridges that lead to the sharing of the gospel? Will we take time to build those foundations?
3. How can we “Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6.2)?
