Hebrews 13. 20, 21

Sermon Notes

Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord, equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen (Hebrews 13.20-21).

Now the God of peace

Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord, equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen (Hebrews 13.20-21).

through the blood of the eternal covenant

knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers,
but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.
For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you
who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God (1 Peter 1.18-21).

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you (Romans 8.11).

Some Questions for Thought

1.    Do you believe in the resurrection?

2.    What difference did the cross and the resurrection make in the lives of those first disciples and the first followers of Jesus?

3.    What difference does it make in the midst of any challenges or problems that you face right now?

4.    Are you in love with the transformation process that God is working out in you, and is that your highest agenda and joy in your life?

The Church

The holiest moment of the church service is the moment when God’s people – strengthened by preaching and sacrament – go out of the church door into the world to be the church. We don’t go to church; we are the church. Ernest Southcott

The church was not designed to be a reservoir, ever receiving and retaining for itself God’s spiritual blessings, but rather a conduit, conveying them on and out to others everywhere. Robert Hall Glover (1871-1947)

Have a glorious resurrection Sunday, and have a glorious resurrection rest of your life! Let’s live transformed lives and let’s be a transformed church.
