A Window of Opportunity
For now, the 2005 Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) that ended two decades of open warfare between the north and south is holding. The Church has a window of opportunity that may slam shut at any time. While this window is open, we have to act quickly to equip as many leaders as possible with the tools and training to establish healthy, reproducing churches throughout Southern Sudan.
It is our desire to see the Sudanese Church become healthy, self-sustaining, and self-replicating. To do so, we feel it imperative to embark on a holistic, church-planting approach with evangelism and discipleship at the core of all we do. By the invitation of our national strategic partners, e3 Sudan will enter a geographic area or adopt a specific people group. e3 Sudan will empower existing church leadership with tools, resources and training to help them reach their communities and nearby unreached communities with the gospel. We also partner with strategic indigenous missionaries and Kajo Keji Bible School graduates who are commissioned and sent out by their churches to unreached or under-reached areas. While there, these trained leaders begin to disciple developing church leadership as well as send a few to the Bible School in Kajo Keji for some intensified training. Upon graduation, these students either return to their home churches to assume leadership roles or are commissioned and sent out as more indigenous missionaries to new unreached areas.
Leadership development is crucial for these war-torn people. Our hope is to demonstrate a cascading discipleship model that can be adapted and disseminated for rapid discipleship training and empowerment among our Sudanese brothers and sisters within their church planting network. It is our desire to model intentional disciple-making; assist as they implement the tools they have obtained; watch maturing disciples as they grow and develop; and ultimately leave the Sudanese Church to flourish on their own.
Faith, without action, is dead (James 2:17).
Spiritual and physical needs of the people of Sudan are overwhelming. Cries for help cannot be ignored. To address some of the practical needs of the people, we are partnering with nationals to help establish and maintain a micro-loan program, substance recovery group, vocational school, Bible School, help to drill new water wells, and more. We are extraordinarily humbled to be a part of what God is doing to restore a country devastated by war.
“God has used this time of peace which we are having for the good of spreading the Gospel. So, come and be a part of reaching out to the people of Southern Sudan with the message of Christ.” – David Kaya, e3 Sudan National Director
