Senior High Youth Bible Fellowship (YBF)

YBF is on Sunday mornings at 9:00 during the Adult Bible Fellowship (ABF) hour. YBF is a fun time of chowing down on donuts, singing songs, talking about the week and whats coming up, meeting with friends, and studying the Bible. YBF is a “1-to-many” time where the Word is taught by Luke to the entire group of Senior High students.

Current Series: April

In April, the high school will continue their series on "The Chrisitian Life." This will take a look at different aspects of what exactly it means to be a Christian. Join us on Sunday mornings at 9:15am in the DBC Youth Building (directly behind the main building).

Follow-Up

We believe that instead of the Sunday sermons going in one ear and out the other, we should strive to follow up with the students and help the seeds that were thrown find good soil. We do this through 2 main areas: (1) Our DIGS curriculum is a small-group bible study based upon what was talked about each YBF the previous Sunday. (3) We make the parents aware of what was talked about. We share with them the follow-up DIGs lesson so that they can continue the discussion in their own homes with their student(s).

Senior High DIGs

DIGs: Disciples In Growth
God’s mandate to the church of Christ is to “Go and make disciples.” (Matthew 28:19). All that we do in DBCYM comes down to this one purpose: to make disciples of Jesus Christ who are daily growing to look more and more like Him in their lives.
DIGs groups are the epicenter of what we do in DBCYM. DIGs stands for “Disciples In Growth” and they are small groups broken down by grade and gender. DIGs groups are led by our Adult Volunteer Leaders who are committed to coming alongside the teenagers in their DIGs group and helping them become more like Christ.

The Goal and Core Values Of Every DIGs Group
For each DIGs group, the goal is the same: that each student involved would actively follow Jesus Christ in all aspects of their lives, both as individuals and with fellow believers. We hope to accomplish this goal by pursuing several core values in each DIGs group:

1.    Authenticity. We first and foremost pursue authentic relationships in our DIGs groups that celebrate God’s grace and sanctifying work in our lives as we continue to stumble and be molded into the image of Christ. We strive to foster an atmosphere where each student can be safe, authentic, and “real” with other fellow believers as they go through the difficulties of life.
2.    Accountability. We believe that Christians need one another as they strive to be more like Christ, and that spiritual commitment and discipline is a part of being a disciple of Christ. As with authenticity, teaching students this starts first and foremost from the leader’s model and example.
3.    Scripture. Our DIGs groups are centered around the corporate study and pursuit of God’s Word. Although the level and intensity might look different for each group based on age, maturity, etc., each group is nonetheless committed to following up the YBF sermon in a small-group format, and our Leaders help guide and navigate the students through the often choppy waters of Scripture.
4.    Spiritual Growth and Maturity. Discipleship is not a status; its a process of becoming more like Christ. Our DIGs groups are committed to seeing each student grow and mature as a disciple as they learn more and more about God and apply their understanding to their lives. Leaders meet students where they are and on their level, but from there they continue to encourage and nurture them to grow and mature spiritually.
5.    Intentional Relationships. DIGs is not merely a Wednesday-nights only time where a Leader teaches a student a lesson; rather, it is a 6-year process of intentional relationships between leaders and students where leaders walk with the students through their entire school years until they graduate. We are committed to relational youth ministry that seeks relationships between leaders and students, and these relationships go well beyond merely Wednesday nights. As discipleship is a lifelong process, so too are the relationships in each DIGs groups: they are relationships that share not just lessons, but lives as well.
