March Newsletter
"Engaging Our World with Christ"
In the coming weeks and months you will hear a continual focus on outreach or "engaging our world with Christ through the power of the Spirit." During these coming weeks there will be many opportunities to invite people to the following events:
Friday, March 5, Beatlegras!
We will have the joy of inviting friends, colleagues at work, fellow-students, and neighbors to hear Beatlgras. Don't miss it. Don't miss this fun way of reaching out to others - inviting them to enjoy life and to have fun together for the purpose of building relationships, asking God to use those relationships as a way to lead to an opportunity of sharing the gospel.
March 25th - An Evening with Ramesh Richard!
On this Thursday evening we will have the opportunity to invite friends, colleagues at work, fellow-students, and neighbors to hear a cogent presentation of the gospel. This is an opportunity to invite yet-to-be-Christians with whom we already have a relationship. To hear the gospel from a well-traveled, academically credible person who has the gift of evangelism and a passion to reach people for Christ. Ask for more info at the info kiosk at the church.
Easter Sunday, April 4!
Easter Sunday is another opportunity to invite and encourage friends, colleagues at work, fellow-students, and neighbors to come with you to church. Easter Sunday is one of two high attendance Sundays (Christmas being the other Sunday) that serve as a natural time to invite yet-to-be-Christians to come to church. I can assure you that the gospel will be clear on that Sunday morning.
June 21-25 - Pine Cove Base Camp at DBC
This will be a week of fun evangelism for kids in grades 1-5. We will have the opportunity to invite kids in these grades for a week of day camp filled with fun activities during which kids from unchurched families will have the opportunity to hear the gospel and trust Christ. Who knows how many families might turn to Christ through their kids being the first in the family to hear and trust the gospel.
May God give us strength to keep reaching out to yet-to-be-Christians praying that God will draw them to Himself through our love and the hearing of the gospel.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek (Romans 1.16).
Joyfully and expectantly,
Pastor Hal
Friday, March 5th , 7:30 pm
DBC is excited to offer a free beatlegras concert on March 5th ! (Check them out at www.beatlegras.com.) Our own Dave Walser is a part of this group. As our sanctuary only has 600 seats, this is a ticketed event, but tickets are free. We simply ask that you use these tickets to invite "yet-to-be-Christians" in your circle of friends to have a great evening together with you. Just loving people and having fun with them will open doors into their hearts. For tickets, come to the church office during the week, come to the kiosk on Sunday morning, or contact Kristen Zion (kzion@dallasbible.org).

The spring has been very fun and successful! We are looking forward to expanding our program for the fall which will begin on Thursday, September 2nd, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.

The Time at Texoma was AWESOME!
We had an amazing retreat weekend! Our speaker, Stacey Hammons was so encouraging and really spoke to our hearts! The Lake Texoma surroundings were relaxing and just what was needed for many of us to "get away". From small groups, to silent auction, to the hilarious Dawn and Daisy...we had a blast!! We had a wonderful time of togetherness and worshiping the Lord.
Join Us for a Meal and Fellowship

Bill Peel led 5 incredible sessions on leadership in a man's life and how God works in each area. The fellowship, food and fun brought all the men together. We had over 20 men join us who had not been on a DBC men's retreat before. The weather was beautiful and made it a great time on Saturday afternoon for some golf, basketball, football, Frisbee golf, fishing, bike riding or just relaxing. David Dixon and Bob Woods were the grill chefs and served the best steaks ever on Saturday night. No man went hungry the whole weekend. Dave Rankin led the praise and worship throughout the weekend and that made for a very uplifting time for all. Nothing sounds better than a group of men singing praise songs! Saturday night concluded with Smores around the campfire and some very intense ping pong tournaments. Jason Storie won this year's tournament and I am sure he will be back next year to defend his title.
Mike Standish and CollegeLIFE
Did you know that Mile Standish is leading a new ministry to college students at DBC as a part-time DBC staff person? God has given both Mike, a 3rd year DTS student, and his wife Erica, a neonatal nurse at Baylor Hospital, a heart for college students. In this role Mike is developing a ministry to the 40+ DBC college kids scattered across Texas, the southwest, and the US, as well as developing an outreach ministry designed to ENGAGE college students at UTD just next door to DBC.
Pray for Mike in this new ministry. Send him a note of encouragement at standish.mike@gmail.com.
Our college leader, Mike Standish, has connected with several UTD international students who have limited or no furniture in their apartments. Anyway you can assist in providing some furniture would be appreciated. Contact Mike at Standish, mike@gmail.com or call the church office.
A long time ago, I was a teenager in DBCYM myself. One of the greatest spiritual influences in my life was going on a mission trip. It literally changed my perspective, my heart, and my life. I saw that God's heart isn't just for me; its for the whole world and people that "aren't like me." My desire is to see that happen in the life of your student as well.
I'd like to invite your student to participate in 2 mission trip opportunities this summer: South Dallas and Monterrey.
In South Dallas (June 15-20) we will spend a week helping Cornerstone Baptist Church with their ministry to the impoverished and needy community in Fair Park. Just 15 minutes down the road, your students eyes will be opened to the different world that exists right in their own backyard. This is a eye-opening trip like none other. Cost is $100.
In Monterrey, Mexico, (July 22-30) we will spend a week with TIME Ministries (www.timeministies.org) helping the local church Iglesia Elim with constructing a church plant and reaching out to locals with the Gospel. Going to another country and ministering the Gospel in a totally different culture and language will give your student a global perspective on the character of God, the Gospel, and the Church. Cost is $850. Sign up deadline is March 15.
Summer means no school and lots of free time for a teenager. Don't waste the opportunity! Don't waste your summer! Step out and go. You'll be amazed with what you see happen in the life of your student. Get signed up today.
To sign up, submit a $100 non-refundable deposit to Luke Sammons at the church (make out all checks to "Dallas Bible Church"). Please consider going on both trips this summer and serving at "home" as well as abroad. With South Dallas as cheap as it is, I like to look at it as both trips for $950. Just a thought. :)
Luke Sammons, Youth Pastor
In the DBC back parking lot you will find a new fence that runs from the Albertson's wall over to our youth building. The safety of the children was our motivation for moving forward with the fence. The gate will be opened on Sunday morning so that you can access the back parking lot from all directions but during the week you can no longer drive through the lot to get to the shopping center or as a "short cut" to Arapaho or Meadow Creek. You can still go down the alley that is on the north side of our playground.
Financial Blessings for 2009! Praise God!
