Jr. High Youth Ministry
Our Jr. High school ministry was formed specifically for 6th through 8th grade students. HUGE things are happening in these three years between elementary and high school. New environments are introduced, new responsibilities and freedoms are given, a world of possibilities begins to unfold itself; and as all this happens, a life philosophy and personal system of beliefs begins to form. No longer does every decision or thought pass through mom and dad, but instead, students must begin to make difficult and personal decisions for themselves. And this is only the beginning; with every step towards college, where students become fully independent, comes increasing responsibility and challenges. It is this thought that drives our ministry.
Our goal is not to simply educate students on Christian beliefs, but to present God’s truth in a way that is applicable and personal to our lives so that every decision, thought, action, and belief is viewed through a Christ centered lens. Most importantly, we do not do this alone, God created us for community so we enjoy the gift He has given us in each other. Everything in our youth ministry leads to small groups, to intimacy, to commitment, to understanding ourselves and our peers. And all of this is for the glory Of God that his name shines through the lives of our students eternally.
We have the word of God that His joy may be in us and that our joy may be FULL (John 15:11). We know the joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10), and the true desires of our heart are found in delighting in God (Psalm 37:4). Our hope and prayer is that every student experiences the unsurpassable joy found in Jesus Christ.
Jr. High Youth Bible Fellowship (YBF)
YBF is a great time of fellowship, worship, and learning more about what God's word has to say about all areas of your life. From topical teaching to book studies, YBF is an awesome time to learn more about what the Bible has to say about your life, and what God wants you to know as you trudge through the teenage years.
Current Series: The Jr. High is currently going through the Apostles' Creed and studying more in depth what it means to say "I'm a Christian." Join us on Sunday mornings at 9:15am and find out more about what this study is about.
Jr. High DIGs (Disciples in Growth)
DIGs are small groups broken down by grade and gender that meet every Wednesday night from 6:30pm-8:00pm in the DBC Youth Building. DIGs are designed to build relationships and apply God's Word to the students' lives. It's an awesome time full of building authentic relationships rooted in accountability and talking about real life issues. Students laugh together, grow together, hang out together, and dig into their Bibles together.
