Sermon Notes

That God would descend to earth and make Himself known through His Son and then give Him to die for our sin while we were still His enemies is nothing less than the most extravagant demonstration of Christmas love and grace imaginable.

I John 4.7 - Love is from God

Gal 4.4,5 - But when the fullness of time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under Las, that He might redeem those under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

John 3.16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.

Romans 5.8 - But God demonstrated His own towards us, in that while we were yet sinner, Christ died for us.

I John 4. 10 - In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and send His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Phil 2.5-7 - Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likness of men.

   1. When God loves, He gives himself through the gift of His Son.

   2. When God loves, He does not first consider how His love will be received.

   3. When God loves, He loves freely - He gives freely, sacrificially, and His love can always be trusted.

   4. Will you receive His love today?

   5. Will you give the gift of love this Christmas and every day?

   6. Love wins.

Christmas is a story about love, the great love of God. Will we respond with love to His love, and will we love others as God loves us?
