Sermon Notes

That God would invest Himself fully in flesh and blood is nothingless than the most extravagant demonstration of love/Christmas imaginable.

“For in Him dwells all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form” (Colossians 2.9, emphasis added).

“For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him” (Colossians 1.19).

“[God] in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom He made the world. And he is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power (Hebrews 1.2,3).

“BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL, which translated means, “God with us” (Matthew 1.23).

“I and the Father are one” (John 10.30).

“Now, all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry if reconciliation, namely that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5.18-19).

  1. God was always present with His people. He was never absent – always there.

“The LORD was going before them in a pillar of cloud by day to lead them on the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night” (Exodus 13.21).

“Where can I go from Your Spirit?

Or where can I flee from Your presence” (Psalm 139.7)?

  1. God loves His people so much that He invests Himself with them in the most personal way imaginable – through His Son.
  2. The Lord Jesus Christ made that personal investment for me and in me.
  3. Will I invest in the lives of others? What are the ways I can love? What are the ways I can invest? Is God alive in me?

“My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples” (John 15.8).
