Sermon Notes

Three questions about relationships:

1. Who will you embrace (The Eight Beatitudes - 5.1-12)? (Or, what's important to you and what are your inner values with respect to others?)

Blessed are -
       • The poor in spirit - theirs is the kingdom of heaven
       • Those who mourn - they shall be comforted
       • The gentle - they shall inherit the earth
       • Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness - they shall be satisfied
       • The merciful - they shall receive mercy
       • The pure in heart - they shall see God
       • The peace makers - they shall be called the sons of God
       • Those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness - theirs is the kingdom of heaven

You when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me - for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you

2. How will you influence others (5.13-16)?

       • Being salt
       • Being light

3. By whose authority will you live (5.17-20)?
       • Understand the value of, the importance of, and the authority of the Word
       • Understand the authority of Christ
       • Understand that righteousness is in Christ alone

So what?
