Transition Classes
(Kindergarten and 6th Grade)

Often, the most critical moves for children (in terms of adjusting to new classes) occur in Kindergarten and 6th Grade. For Kindergartners, the transition from preschool into the school age environment is a big one. For 6th Graders, the move from the Children's Program to the Youth Program is equally significant.

To make these transitions as smooth as possible, DBC has developed unique ministries for Kindergartners and 6th Graders to help meet their needs—and those of their parents.

Kindergarten

Children who have started Kindergarten move out from under the preschool umbrella and are gently incorporated into the school-age ministries.

9:00 A.M.

Kid's Bible Fellowship

Kid's Bible Fellowships are held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. During this time, Kindergartners and 1st Graders are combined for Bible study, games and small-group discussion. Kindergartners should be picked up from their classroom (Room 104) at 10:00 a.m. and accompany their parent or guardian to the Worship service. Before going to class each week, parents should sign their Kindergartners in at the CM Sign-In Desk, and complete the matching security bands. Visitors can fill out information cards at this time with important information about their children.

SUNDAY

10:30 A.M.

Kid Connection

Around 10:30 a.m., your Kindergartner will be released with the other school-age children for Kid Connection. Parents may accompany Kindergartners to the Fireside Room. The Kindergarten Small Group Leader will meet Kindergartners on the right side of the room where they sit together for the Large Group time. Then Small Group Leaders will take Kindergartners and 1st graders to Room 104. You can pick up your child there at 11:30 a.m.

6th Grade

To smooth this transition, we a Preteen Ministry Room, Uptown Kids, equipped with ping pong, big screen TV, and a ½ court basketball gym, just for 6th graders to have their own “youth room.” At 9:00 the 6th graders Bible Fellowship hour focuses on equipping preteens to study God’s Word and carry their faith into their youth. We have special fellowships with 6th graders in mind at places like Group Dynamix, Pine Cove, baseball games and bowling. We encourage the 6th graders to get involved as leaders in the Children’s Ministry, serving in the preschool and early elementary small groups with an adult leader

KBF is every Sunday morning at 9:00 am.

10:30 A.M.

Kid Connection

All Year—Around 10:30 a.m., your 6th grader will be released from the adult Worship Service for Kid Connection. 6th graders are welcome and encouraged to continue attending Kid Connection all year long. Parents can pick up their 6th grader after Kid Connection in the Uptown Kid's Room which can be reached by the stairwell marked on the Facilities Map.
