Our Story
In the winter of 1988, a group of Christian believers began discussing and praying about their shared desire to start a new church. These men and women were committed to faithful, personal involvement in ministry, uncompromising Biblical teaching, and true spiritual worship, so the new church would have to reflect these commitments.
The group began meeting as a church in April 1989 and developed a spiritual base of operations for numerous small groups and ministries-all started and sustained by lay people. In the fall of 1989, the new church moved to a temporary facility near Spring Valley and Inwood. DBC's first mission statement was "to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ, to edify believers, and to evangelize the lost".
In August 1990, after prayerful consideration, DBC's first Board of Elders was constituted to govern the church according to the Biblical model. The elders re-affirmed the original mission statement and established a framework for action among the body, adding a number of lay-driven ministries. For ten years, the church grew.
In November of 1999, DBC moved to its current location at the corner of Hillcrest and Arapaho. Because of God's blessing, we now have a presence in the midst of a residential community— providing unlimited opportunities for the spread of the gospel.
Today, Dallas Bible Church is a growing body of believers who desire to see God glorified and His work is carried out around the world. The church expanded its original Mission Statement to reflect a desire to be a place where God is exalted in worship and His Word is lovingly taught. The church continues to increase its efforts to reach out to a lost world via direct involvement and financial support of local, national, and worldwide missions efforts.
Together, we are eagerly writing the next chapter in the history of Dallas Bible Church. We are excited about what God is doing in our midst, and we hope you will consider working along side us in His service!
